Defeating more than 1,200 poker players, Ryan Weiss took down the second event during 2018/2019 WSOP Circuit, which is currently running in Seminole Casino at Coconut Creek. Along with the championship title, he also cashed in $70,713 and took home the first WSOP ring in his career.
Weiss was one of the 1,207 entries in the second event of the poker festival, which is attracting thousands of amateur and professional players to the sunny city of Coconut Creek, nestled between Miami and Palm Beach. The festival, which is part of the new, fifteenth season of the World Series of Poker Circuit, started on Thursday, September 13, and until September 23, it hosts a total of twelve official gold ring events.
One of them was the $400 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry which kicked off Friday and continued through Sunday when the final action took place. During the four starting flights, players could enjoy unlimited re-entry. On the first day, registration closed with 247 entries, and the second, with another 203 entries. Day 1C drew in 375 players and the final flight and Day 1D closed with 376 registrations, which pushed the guaranteed total prize pool of $300,000 to $398,310. Only 135 players could make it to the money and they received a minimum of $593.
Day 1C chip leader AJ Gambino led the surviving field into Day 2 on Sunday, when 143 players returned to the poker tables at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Tom Bielecky had the biggest stack (3,655,000) on the unofficial final table of ten where Ryan Weiss had only 1,700,000 and was the third smallest stack. He managed to turn the hide, however, and survive more than 4 hours until the end along with Ken Berman, a regular participant at the casino’s poker events.
Weiss, who is an attorney from Miami, Florida, was significantly less experienced than Berman but he successfully defeated him in the heads-up battle to claim the championship title. He received the first-place prize of $70,713 and the first WSOP gold ring in his career, which is not only a token of prestige but it also gives him a seat at the Global Casino Championship in 2019.
This is the best live cash for Ryan Weiss, who recently finished 11th at the $550 NHL 2018 Wynn Summer Classic in Las Vegas for $2,946. In June, he took home $4,492 for his 229th place at one of the events at the 49th WSOP 2018 in Las Vegas. For his runner-up position, Ken Berman won $43,814.
Another 10 WSOP Rings at Coconut Creek This Week
Ryan Weiss scored the second WSOP gold ring given during the 2018/2019 WSOP Circuit Coconut Creek after John DePersio won the opening event. He scooped $19,649 in prize money for defeating a significantly smaller entry field of 243 players. But they are just the first two players who receive the attractive WSOP rings during this festival.
On Monday, a total of three ring events will be held, including the $1,125 No-Limit Hold’em which has a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000. The tournament attracted a total of 57 players and the total prize pool reached $57,000, which would be divided across the last 6 survivors. Play is currently underway and when the champion is determined, this player will take home a cash prize of $21,375.
The other two events where winners would be rewarded WSOP gold rings are the fourth and fifth tournaments of the festival. The first one is the single-day $400 Turbo Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em event and the second one is the $400 No-Limit Hold’em, in which players will return to play down to a winner on Tuesday.
