Hard Rock Hosts First Hiring Events for New Atlantic City Casino

Casino operator Hard Rock International is set to host first career events this week as part of its initiative for recruiting staff for its newest resort – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. The hotel and casino complex is set to open doors this May.

The two career events are set to take place on January 30 and 31. They will both be intended for former employees of the shuttered Trump Taj Mahal, who were laid off when the resort closed doors in the fall of 2016. Hard Rock International, which is to launch its first Atlantic City casino operation on the site of the former Trump Taj Mahal, said earlier this month that it would first give the opportunity to former Taj staff to join the renovated property.

The upcoming two career events will be exclusive, invite-only ones and will be intended for Trump Taj Mahal employees who had been employed at the shuttered resort for no fewer than 30 days before its closure.

Hard Rock International will hold more hiring events in future, and those will be open to all job seekers who are interested in working at the new hotel and casino complex.

The Florida-based casino operator bought Trump Taj Mahal last spring from its former owner Carl Icahn. The New York real estate developer sold the shuttered property, which once cost US President Donald Trump $1 billion to build, for around $50 million. He was keen to dispose of the hotel and casino complex after he closed it in October 2016, following a month-long workers’ strike. Former Trump Taj Mahal employees blasted its previous owner for refusing to restore their pension and benefits plans that, they argued, helped the property from being closed much earlier.

Hard Rock’s Plans for the Casino Resort

Upon buying the shuttered complex, Hard Rock announced that it would invest $375 million into its renovation and reopening as a rock’n’roll themed resort. Later on, the major casino developer and operator, which is run by Florida’s Seminole Tribe, upped its investment to $500 million.

Renovation work is well in progress at the site, and the property is on schedule to be relaunched in May. The iconic Trump Taj Mahal minarets and other distinctive elements were demolished over the course of construction and renovation to be replaced by ones typical for the Hard Rock brand.

Hard Rock International had previously operated a café at the site of the Trump Taj Mahal resort. That particular venue will, too, be renovated and expanded to accommodate a greater visitor flow. Aside from that, the upcoming opening of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will represent the company’s debut on Atlantic City’s and New Jersey’s casino scene.

Hard Rock previously tried to secure its presence in the local gambling industry by backing a recent legislative effort for the legalization of casinos beyond Atlantic City. However, the proposal was rejected at the 2016 statewide referendum.
